Working with Special Populations

Much of the past research on addictions has focused on middle class, white men. In our treatment of clients, however, we encounter people from a wide array of diverse backgrounds.

This section will provide you with educational materials covering several special populations: Adolescents, People with HIV/AIDS, Families, Women, Elderly and the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender populations.

These powerpoint presentations were created and delivered by students in the Summer 2007 UGA School of Social Work course SOWK 7273: Clinical Practice with Addictive Disorders.
